MD, FEBU, MSc Coordinating Director, Department of Urology General Hospital of Thessaloniki "Agios Dimitrios" Personal Profile I was born in Serres, Greece, in 1967. My professional journey has been dedicated to the advancement of urological science and the provision of high-level surgical care within the National Health System of Northern Greece. Medical Education and Licensure My medical foundation was established at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), where I graduated from the School of Medicine in 1991. Following my graduation, I pursued specialized training in Urology, culminating in the acquisition of the title of Specialist in Urology in 1999. This specialization was completed at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki "Agios Dimitrios", an institution that has been central to my clinical development. Professional Appointments and Clinical Leadership My career within the National Health System is marked by two distinct periods of service:

  • 2001 – January 2007: I was appointed to the position of Consultant B at the Urology Clinic of the General Hospital of Serres. During this six-year tenure, I managed a high volume of urological cases, contributing to the health needs of the Serres regional unit.
  • January 2007 – Present: I returned to the General Hospital of Thessaloniki "Agios Dimitrios", where I have served continuously to this day. Currently, I hold the rank of Coordinating Director of the Urology Clinic. In this capacity, I am responsible for the clinical, administrative, and strategic oversight of the department. Postgraduate Specialization and Board Certification
  • Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU): In 1999, concurrent with my national specialization, I successfully acquired the prestigious title of Fellow of the European Board of Urology, certifying my qualifications at the European standard.
  • Urodynamics Sub-specialization: I underwent specialized post-training at the Urodynamics Laboratory of the 2nd University Urology Clinic of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) for a duration of 16 months. This fellowship focused on the functional assessment of the lower urinary tract.
  • Master of Science (MSc) in Endourology: I completed my postgraduate studies in Endourology at the Medical School of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). The program, conducted in 2009, was completed with a grade of "Very Good" (8). My thesis and training were supervised by the distinguished Professor Stavros Touloupidis and Assistant Professor Stylianos Giannakopoulos. Scientific and Academic Contributions My commitment to medical science extends beyond clinical practice to active engagement in research and education:
  • Publications: I have authored numerous articles published in various Greek scientific journals and have one publication in an international foreign-language journal.
  • Conference Activity: I have maintained a robust presence in the scientific community through numerous participations as a keynote speaker, rapporteur, and presenter of research papers at various national and international conferences, round tables, and scientific meetings.
